Jetwing
Seashells Negombo hosted ‘Jetwing Go Sri Lankan Culinary
Challenge
2008’ last week; where chefs from all the Jetwing hotels
competed
to present the most authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.
Dispelling
the belief that all Sri Lankan food is spicy and pungent, competitors
presented well researched dishes made according to age old recipes
and showcased the food value and taste of ‘Madu
Thalapa’, ‘Bathala Roti’
, ‘Maikkan
Malu’
, ‘Sappattu
Mal Ambula’
- to name but a few of the delicacies prepared.
It
was a gourmet treat for all who were present at Jetwing Seashells,
when Sri Lanka’s Master Chef Pubilis of Mt Lavinia Hotel,
adorned
the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was appreciative of the efforts
of the chefs of the Jetwing Group on the research carried out to seek
authentic rural Sri Lankan cuisine. He also thanked them for the
pains taken to ensure that the dishes presented were authentic and
uniquely Sri Lankan.
Renton
de Alwis, Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism commended the organizers for the
initiative, and said that visitors would be delighted in tasting
authentic and unique cuisine of the destination also learning of its
nutritional benefits. “It is time that we got away from
serving bad
imitations of what is often presented with tags as Sri Lankan cuisine
and our Sri Lankan Chefs took pride in presenting authentic Sri
Lankan dishes to our visitors. so we could delight them with unique
experiences of Sri Lanka.” he added.
